Why Does Blaidd Attack You in Elden Ring?

Why Does Blaidd Attack You in Elden Ring?

Blaidd attacks you in Elden Ring because he is driven mad by the Two Fingers after Ranni abandons her destiny.

The Two Fingers had cursed Blaidd to go berserk if Ranni ever turned against them, and this is what ultimately happens.

Should I Let Blaidd Out?

During Ranni’s quest, you have the option of releasing Blaidd or keeping him in the Evergaol.

However, if you don’t let him go, he will escape on his own, making your decisions essentially irrelevant.

To retrieve the treasure for Ranni, you’ll need to reach Nokron. But before that, you must head back to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, where you battled Bloodhound Knight Darriwil.

There, Blaidd will greet you when you interact with the Evergaol.

According to Blaidd, Iji, Ranni’s blacksmith servant, imprisoned him inside the Evergaol because of concern that he might bring trouble to Ranni.

Why Does Blaidd Go Hostile?

At the end of Ranni’s questline, Blaidd will be waiting for you at the bottom of the building. At this point, he has turned hostile.

Blaidd’s hostility is because he is essentially a puppet of the Two Fingers sent to help Ranni The Witch.

Since Ranni is going directly against the Two Fingers, Blaidd goes mad and consequently becomes hostile.

He does so right after she is freed, so it can be argued you are contributing factor to his hostility.

It was Iji, who is aware of Blaidd’s real character, who made the decision to lock him in the Evergaol for this reason.

Additionally, Blaidd can also become hostile if you unintentionally attack him before finishing Ranni’s questline. This happens with all NPCs, though.

You can use Celestial Dew to atone for your sins at the Church of Vows and de-aggro Blaidd if he becomes hostile early in the game. However, after Ranni’s quest is complete, Celestial Dew will no longer work.

Why Do I Have to Fight Blaidd?

Before you reach the Lake of Rot, you must fight Blaidd if you are doing Ranni’s questline.

You can’t move further in the story unless you fight him. It is unavoidable.

Players must go back to Ranni’s Rise after completing her quest in order to see Blaidd one last time.

Unfortunately, Blaidd turns hostile this time, so your only choice is to engage him in combat. There is no way to reason with him at that point.

Can You Avoid Killing Blaidd?

There is no way to avoid killing Blaidd in Elden Ring.

You will need to fight Blaidd before visiting the Lake of Rot if you are following Ranni’s questline. This is a part of the quest, so you must complete it or you will not be able to progress.
