What to do First in Elden Ring: Beginner’s Guide

Elden Ring is an open RPG developed by FromSoftware, the same team responsible for all the Souls games out there, and this is by far their masterpiece.

For those new to the Souls genre, diving into Elden Ring might seem a bit daunting.

Here’s what newcomers should keep in mind as they embark on this epic journey through the Lands Between.

Where to Go First?

Limgrave Elden Ring
Limgrave is the first location you’ll come across in the open world

When you begin playing Elden Ring, your journey starts at the Cave of Knowledge, where the game teaches you its basics.

From there, you’ll be able to dive into the sprawling open world of the Lands Between, starting in Limgrave.

While it’s tempting to roam freely due to the game’s open nature, it’s wise to exercise caution based on the level of difficulty.

Limgrave, being the first region, provides a friendly environment for exploration, allowing you to acclimate to the game.

Here, you’ll encounter various NPCs and enemy types that will help you refine your combat skills and become accustomed to the controls.

Another good early exploration choice is the Weeping Peninsula, where you can acquire valuable loot and further hone your combat techniques. This is a necessity for the challenges coming ahead.

Besides the weapons that will help you deal with enemies in the Lands Between, there are other items.

They will help you in various ways, such as healing, summoning spirits, and others.

  • Crafting Tools: You can buy this from the merchant in the Church of Elleh. It’s necessary to craft items from your main menu.
