Pokemon GO: Best Elite Charged TM Moves

Pokemon GO: Best Elite Charged TM Moves

Elite TMs are one of the most sought-after items in Pokemon GO.

In addition to making some Pokemon a lot better, Elite TMs are extremely hard to obtain.

There are only a few ways to get an Elite TM (Charged or Fast) which we cover in our how to get an Elite TM in Pokemon GO article. You don’t need to spend any money to get them either!

Due to their rarity, it is imperative you don’t waste them. This is even more important for Elite Charged TMs as they’re even harder to decide where to use.

So, to help you, we made a list of the top 10 best Pokemon to use Elite Charged TM on.

1. Swampert – Hydro Cannon

  • Damage: 80
  • Energy cost: 40
  • Damage per energy: 2
  • Effects: N/A

Swampert is the best Pokemon to use an Elite Charged TM on.

The dual typing of Water/Ground makes it hard to find a counter for Swampert; you just need to keep it away from anything that has leaves on it (Grass types).

Its Legacy Charged Move, Hydro Cannon, is one of the best Charged Attacks in the game due to its low energy cost and high damage output.

Swampert can dominate both Ultra League and Great League in PVP, while it also excels in powerful Raids.

No wonder it tops our list of the best starter Pokemon.

2. Venusaur – Frenzy Plant

  • Damage: 100
  • Energy cost: 45
  • Damage per energy: 2.22
  • Effects: N/A

Another Pokemon that massively benefits from an Elite Charged TM is Venusaur. It is a solid pick for both PVP and PVE.

However, you must have Frenzy Plant as the Charged Attack for it to work due to its insane damage and energy cost.

Venusaur is excellent in the Great League and decent in the Ultra League.

You’ll need to avoid those common Flying and Ice types that are popular picks in GO Battle League, though.

3. Registeel – Zap Cannon

  • Damage: 150
  • Energy cost: 80
  • Damage per energy: 1.87
  • Effects: 66% chance to decrease the ATK of the opponent by 1

Registeel is not a great choice in Raids, but it excels in PVP.

Due to its high bulk, (its Defense stat is among the best in Pokemon GO), it can tank some of the most powerful attacks.

To counteract this, it does have a low Attack stat, so you must get Zap Cannon as a Charged Attack.

Combined with its durability and the damage output of Zap Cannon, you can quickly turn the tides in one fell swoop.

Additionally, Zap Cannon has a chance to decrease the ATK of an opponent, making Registeel even more durable.

Registeel is one of the best Pokemon in the Great League and Ultra League.

4. Mewtwo – Psystrike

  • Damage: 90
  • Energy cost: 45
  • Damage per energy: 2
  • Effects: N/A

Mewtwo is still one of the best Attackers in Pokemon GO, and if you want to make it even more powerful, you should use an Elite Charged TM to let it learn Psystrike.

Psystrike is Mewtwo’s go-to when it comes to PVP and PVE.

It deals the same damage as Psychic but requires 10 less energy – meaning using an Elite Charged TM on it is worthwhile.

In the Master League, Mewtwo is one of the top dogs.

With its rapid-fire Psystrikes and great secondary Charged moves, you can counter some meta Pokemon like Melmetal, Dialga, Groudon, and many more.

Be prepared to use a Protect Shield or two, though!

Shadow Mewtwo is also a popular choice due to its insane Attack stats.

It should be noted that while Shadow Pokemon deal more damage (higher Attack) they also receive more damage as well (lower Defense).

5. Groudon – Fire Punch

  • Damage: 55
  • Energy cost: 40
  • Damage per energy: 1.37
  • Effects: N/A

The next on our list is one of the Weather Trio, Groudon.

Fire Punch Groudon is an excellent Pokemon in Master League due to its high stats and powerful moves.

You can combine it with either Mud Shot or Dragon Tail as the Fast Attack, then another Charged Attack like Earthquake to make it even more unpredictable.

Groudon is still great at Raids, but Fire Punch is not the Charged Move to use there.

6. Lugia – Aeroblast

  • Damage: 170
  • Energy cost: 75
  • Damage per energy: 2.26
  • Effects: 12.5% chance to increase self ATK by 2

Lugia is mediocre at PVE due to its stats leaning more toward Defense. However, when it comes to PVP, it will really shine.

Lugia has high stats that allow it to tank powerful moves, making it one of the best safe switches.

Aeroblast might have a high energy cost, but along with it comes huge damage of 170 (180 PvE).

If you can bait your opponent into using their Protect Shields early, then Aeroblast will nearly always be a one-hit KO.

You can use Lugia in all leagues, but it is one of the best in the Master League.

7. Ho-Oh – Sacred Fire

  • Damage: 130
  • Energy cost: 65
  • Damage per energy: 2
  • Effects: 50% chance to decrease the ATK of the opponent by 1

Opposite Lugia is the fiery bird Ho-Oh, one of the best Pokemon in the Master League.

Ho-Oh has excellent bulk and high-damage movesets like Sacred Fire and Earthquake.

With an Elite Charged TM, you can let it learn Sacred Fire, making it a force to be reckoned with.

Furthermore, Ho-Oh actually has double the resistances than it does weaknesses. Make sure you avoid Rock type moves at all costs, though!

8. Metagross – Meteor Mash

  • Damage: 100
  • Energy cost: 50
  • Damage per energy: 2
  • Effects: N/A

Metagross with Meteor Mash is still one of the Pokemon in the current meta.

It is excellent in PVP and the best Steel type attacker in PVE.

Even years after release of GO Battle League, Metagross is one of the top Pokemon in the Master League.

Due to its high Attack stat, if you have a Shadow Metagross, this arguably makes it even better.

While Meteor Mash is undoubtedly an upgrade, you can still use Metagross with a combination of Earthquake, Flash Cannon, and Psychic.

9. Charizard – Blast Burn

  • Damage: 110
  • Energy cost: 50
  • Damage per energy: 2.2
  • Effects: N/A

Charizard is really the favorite of Pokemon GO due to its 5 Legacy moves.

One is Blast Burn, which is a must, especially in Raids.

Blast Burn and Dragon Breath Mega Charizard Y is the best fire-type attacker in the game.

In PVP, Blast Burn is also used to counter the popular Steel types you see in Ultra League.

Blast Burn Charizard only places 9th on this list due to Overheat which hits for 130 damage (20 more) and only costs another 5 energy (55).

However, Overheat does reduce your ATK by two, 100% of the time.

Check out where Charizard ranks among our coolest Pokemon of all time – spoiler alert, it’s high!

10. Blaziken – Stone Edge

  • Damage: 100
  • Energy cost: 55
  • Damage per energy: 1.81
  • Effects: N/A
Blaziken Blaze Kick

Blaziken is a Fire-Fighting Type Pokemon which means it is weak against Flying types.

That’s where the Elite Charged move of Stone Edge comes in which is an excellent, and often unexpected, counter.

It is decent in both the Great and Ultra League but is far from essential. That’s why we placed it at number 10.

Blaziken actually has an alternative Elite Charged move as well, Blast Burn.

We don’t recommend this move though, due to Blaziken’s already effective Fire type Charged move, Blaze Kick.
