What Happens When You Kill a Merchant in Elden Ring?

What Happens When You Kill a Merchant in Elden Ring?

You’ll find Merchants dotted around the Lands Between in Elden Ring.

If you kill one of them, they will leave behind a Bell Bearing item.

This item can be given to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold. By doing so, you can still access the items they had for sale even after defeating them.

That way all of the items they sold are accessible in one place, even after they die.

Should I Kill Merchants?

If you’re looking to make your life easier in Elden Ring, killing merchants is actually a good idea.

Merchants are spread throughout the Lands Between, and it can be quite a challenge to remember all the different items they sell and to keep track of each one.

Given that there are over 30 merchants in total, even experienced Elden Ring players would find it challenging to remember every item they sold.

Fortunately, with one of the initial updates, things became a bit more manageable.

Now you can spot their locations on the map. In the game’s original release, your best option was to use the 100 available markers on the map to remember where each merchant was.

Having a single shop, the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold, to source all your items from is incredibly convenient. It not only proves helpful but also provides peace of mind.

This is why the Bell Bearing feature in the game is so valuable. It ensures you can access the stocks of NPCs even if you happen to defeat them, whether intentionally or not.

So, if you’re a violent Elden Ring player, you don’t need to worry about killing the Merchants!
