There are 18 Pokemon types which are as follows: Normal, Fire, Fighting, Water, Flying, Grass, Poison, Electric, Ground, Psychic, Rock, Ice, Bug, Dragon, Ghost, Dark, Steel, and Fairy.

Gen 1 had the original 15 types, while Gen 2 added Dark and Steel. Later, Gen 6 added the Fairy type. It is unknown whether Game Freak will add another type in the future.

And when it comes to typing and dual typing, there are 324 type possibilities.

However, the above number includes combos like Ghost/Dark and Dark/Ghost, where the arrangement is treated as distinct.

But if you count dual types like these as one and the same, there are 171 type combos instead.

As for unused combos, there are currently 9 unused dual types in the series.

The Pokemon series introduced regional forms or variants during Gen 7’s Sun and Moon games. Regional forms are alternate forms of a Pokemon that are based on the region it’s from.

Currently, there are 4 regional forms: Alolan, Galarian, Hisuian, and Paldean.

There are 55 Pokemon that have a regional form and in total there are 58 regional form Pokemon.

Regional forms adapt or evolve different characteristics based on their home region.

For example, some have developed an Ice type variant due to living in a cold environment, while some have changed due to pollution or industrialization.
