What Are the Best Stats to Level up in Elden Ring?

There are numerous stats in Elden Ring that influence your character’s strengths and weaknesses.

They also change how your character is affected and impacted by encounters in and out of battle.

Elden Ring has eight main stats and they are Vigor, Mind, Endurance, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane.

Stats in Elden Ring are important in builds since they are the focal point of the gameplay experience.

Leveling them up is imperative to keep up with the game’s increasing difficulty as you progress through the Lands Between.

Most Important Stat

It’s important to keep in mind that there is no consensus as to what the most important stat in Elden Ring is.

This is because some players prioritize a Strength build, others Faith build, and so on.

But remember, due to soft caps on all stats, you can’t focus purely on one stat.

However, while all stats are important in Elden Ring, there are definitely some you should prioritize before those caps kick in.

1. Endurance

Endurance is one of the most important stats to level up in Elden Ring, regardless of your chosen build.

It boosts stamina, which is represented by the green bar under your mana.

Stamina is necessary for attacking, blocking, dodging, and pretty much any other action in Elden Ring.

As a result, having a high Endurance level allows you to do more in a fight before having to retreat and let it regenerate.

In addition, Endurance also improves your equip load, allowing you to equip heavier armor in the game.

It’s by far the most critical stat you’ll need to constantly level up in the early stages of your game.

2. Vigor

The next key stat to level up in Elden Ring is Vigor.

Vigor increases your maximum health, which is represented as the red bar above your mana.

Vigor largely affects your HP, which is critical both in and out of battle. It gives you extra time to combat enemies and allows you to endure more hits before dying.

It also increases your resistance to fire and poison.

Any build that’s low in Vigor won’t be effective since you won’t be able to survive long in combat. That is why it is considered the second most significant state in Elden Ring.

3. Mind

Mind increases your maximum FP (Focus Points), which is your mana. It’s the blue bar under your health.

This stat is very useful for builds that focus on spellcasting. When you perform sorceries, incantations, or other FP-related abilities, it decreases accordingly.

With a greater FP bar, you can perform more spells and destroy your enemies before they ever realize it.

Note that this stat only affects the number of focus points you have, not the potency of your sorceries, incantations, and other FP-related abilities.

It’s worth investing a few levels in your Mind stat early in the game, but only if you’re going for a specialized spellcaster build.

The next four stats are entirely subjective and dependent on the player’s preferences and gameplay style. Because of this, it’s difficult to order them in a definite rank.

4. Strength

Strength is an important stat for melee-focused builds. The Strength stat does several things in Elden Ring.

For starters, it allows you to use heavier weapons and enhances your physical damage output.

Additionally, it allows you to equip stronger armor to boost your overall defense.

The most essential aspect of the Strength stat is that it allows you to deal greater damage with Strength scaling weapons to maximize the efficiency of those weapons.

For that, if you want to wield brute force and physical power, it is best to invest in the Strength stat.

5. Dexterity

Dexterity is another vital stat for melee-focused builds, but with a different approach to Strength.

It is utilized to allow your character to efficiently use more advanced weapons such as bows, crossbows, and curved or smaller swords.

Leveling Dexterity increases the damage output of Dex weapons and allows you to equip them.

It also decreases spell-casting time, reduces fall damage, and makes it more difficult to fall from your horse.

That’s why Dexterity stat provides an alternative to Strength in many ways, specifically for those who like to get as much damage in shorter periods of time.

6. Intelligence

Intelligence is useful for spells and magic generally.

Essentially, Intelligence makes it possible to cast sorceries and become a mage in the game.

Leveling the Intelligence stat enhances the damage output of Intelligence-scaling spells, but it also enhances the damage of Intelligence-scaling weapons as well. Also, it boosts magic resistance.

For those who prefer to cause a lot of damage from afar by casting sorceries should invest in Intelligence.

Keep in mind that you will need FP to cast them, therefore these two stats will be your primary focus with your build.

7. Faith

Another key stat for those who like magic is Faith. However, there are differences between this and Intelligence.

Faith allows you to cast miracles instead of sorceries, these miracles are called incantations.

Incantations are offensive and defensive spells that may be used to heal oneself, trigger status effects on enemies, and deal damage to them.

Leveling the Faith stat enhances the damage of all incantations and Faith scaling weapons to maximize the potencies of those.

If you want a build that focuses on giving you the upper hand in a fight by spellcasting and self-healing, you definitely should invest in the Faith stat.

8. Arcane

Arcane stat is an attribute that primarily increases item discovery; which means it’s offering you higher chances for rare drop weapons, items and so.

It also scales poison, bleed, sleep, and madness buildup.

Furthermore, the Arcane stat affects the player’s holy defense and death resistance, as well as providing scaling weapons that use this stat.

Arcane is most likely the least advantageous stat in Elden Ring because it does not bring as much value as the other stats. However, you can still make a status effect build around it.

How to Level up Your Stats in Elden Ring

To level up in Elden Ring, you must first encounter the NPC Melina.

Melina will pay you a visit when you rest at one of two special Sites of Grace in Limgrave: Either Gatefront or Agheel Lake North.

After resting at one of these Sites of Grace, Melina will propose to be your maiden. You must accept her offer in order to be able to level up in Elden Ring.

Luckily, if you have already met Melina and denied her offer, you can still trigger her appearance again by visiting any Site of Grace. That means you won’t get completely locked out from leveling up in Elden Ring.

After accepting Melina’s offer, you can choose Level Up when resting at any Site of Grace.

While resting at a Site of Grace, pick ‘Level Up’ from the menu and select whatever stats you wish to level up then confirm your choice.

Leveling up in Elden Ring is achieved by using Runes.

Runes are the game’s major currency and are required for leveling up your stats.

The initial source of runes is enemies. After they are defeated, you are awarded a set number of runes. Each type of enemy drops a variable number of Runes.

Golden Rune Consumables are another dependable source of runes found throughout The Lands Between.
